Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue crews were called into action late Sunday night as a blaze broke out in an apartment building on the city's east side.

KDLT TV is reporting the fire started around 9:45 PM in a structure located at 2709 East 12th Street.

When crews arrived, they found flames shooting from the exterior of the multi-family dwelling. After surveying the situation, they discovered the fire had spread into the attic of the apartment building.

Fortunately, all the residents in the building had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived. Crews contained the blaze within 10 minutes of arrival, and no one was hurt in the process.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
