Sioux Falls loves St. Patty's Day and it shows with all the different Saint Patrick's Day festivities starting to ramp up in the Sioux Empire.

Another big one is slated for Saturday morning starting at 9 AM in Fawick Park. It's the St. Patty's Day 5 Mile.

There's a new course this year as lads and lassies will run and out and back race with the start and finish at Fawick Park. The course follows the bike trail along the Big Sioux River crossing the old Railroad bridge into Cherry Rock Park.  Then continues south on the bike trail to the turn around point in Pasley Park.

If your little leprechaun feet don't feel like they have 5 miles in them, there's also a St. Patty's Day 5K which begins at 11:30 that morning, and a 1 Mile race that kicks off at 1:55 PM in front of the Federal Building at 12th & Phillips in downtown Sioux Falls and winds up in Falls Park. Get complete race route information here.

If you're a real Irishman prove it, by competing for the IRISHMAN title by running the 5 Mile, 5K, and the 1 Mile. IRISHMAN finishers will get a free finisher's certificate documenting their accomplishment and an IRISHMAN shirt. Overall IRISHMAN winners will have the lowest combined time across all 3 events. The male and female winners will win a famous Leprechaun Shoe Trophy.

After all the races have finished, make sure you run on down for the post party for some green beer and an awards ceremony at Monk's on East 8th Street. Awards will be given out for each race. You must be present to receive an award.

There will also be a Best Irish Costume Competition that will be voted on by your peers at the St. Patty's Post Party and Awards Ceremony. You also must be present to win.
