A traffic stop in Sioux Falls ended up with the arrest of a former violent offender.

"An officer tried to stop a vehicle," according to Police spokesman Sam Clemens.

"The driver took off at a high rate of speed. That information was passed out to other officers that we were looking for this particular vehicle. Another officer saw the vehicle parked in the east side Walmart parking lot. The driver was found inside."

That's when the man was taken into custody.

"He was initially arrested for the warrants and then the other driving charges, aggravated eluding and speeding. The officer found a meth pipe with some meth residue in it. A handgun was also tucked in his boot. He was arrested for the drug charges and possession of the weapon."

Clemens identified the suspect as 24-year-old Kelly Campbell, a Sioux Falls transient.
