If you've never heard of the Sioux Empire Rock-a-Bettys, you're probably not alone, but hopefully I can introduce you. They are a group of women who have a love of vintage clothing and style, (predominantly the 1940s & 50s) and have formed a non-profit organization to support and empower women.

They do this by fundraising with various projects, donating their time and talents to a large number of community causes, like making scarves for women and children battling cancer, (and donating those scarves at our Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon several years ago) and volunteering at other non-profit group events (Active Generations, Children's Inn and others).

Another way they support women is by offering a $600 scholarship to "all non-traditional female students who are residents of South Dakota enrolled at an accredited college or university in South Dakota". They are taking applications through June 15, 2017 and will award the scholarship on August 1, 2017.
