A South Dakota State University student is living nearly every little girl's dream, with a pageant bouquet in hand and tiara adorning her head as the newly crowned Miss South Dakota 2017.

Miranda Mack, 21, of Redfield was crowned on Saturday (June 18). The SDSU student competed in the talent category with an opera performance.

Mack's parents are Hugh and Cari Mack.

Isabella Garcia, a Sioux Falls native also placed in the top five.

Other contestants in the top five include Carrie Wintle, from Iroquois; Evy Johnson of Firesteel; and Rachel Evangelisto, and Isabel MacLachlan, both of Rapid City.

Mack will represent South Dakota at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September. The Miss America Pageant will air on ABC on Sunday, September 10.
