Man Sentenced for Driving Drunk with Child in Vehicle

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota man has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for driving drunk with a 2-year-old child in the vehicle.

Thirty-six-year-old Colton Poorman, of Rosebud, pleaded guilty in July to operating a motor vehicle under the influence with a minor present in the vehicle.

The incident happened in October of 2015. Authorities say the child was not placed in safety restraints.

At the time of his arrest, Poorman had been on federal supervised release for a previous felony conviction.
