When you go to a Major League Baseball game, do you ever wonder how safe the food is? I do. But then, I’m kind of goofy that way. The last thing I want is to get sick.

Sports Illustrated recently put together a list of ballpark food safety rankings. They based their findings on local health department reports in each of the MLB cities.

Coming in at #1 was Safeco Field in Seattle, home of the Seattle Mariners. The ballpark was found to have only five violations and only one was considered critical.

Fenway Park in Boston came in at #2 with 30 violations, two critical. And Minute Maid Park in Houston came in at #3 with 28 violations, nine critical.

Coming in dead last on the list – Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays. There inspectors found 240 food safety violations, 105 of which were considered critical.

So how did Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins fare? Not that good. Out of 28 ballparks, Target Field came in at #22 – 131 violations, 43 critical.

Here’s what the report had to say,

“Many of the citations from the mid-June inspection noted that cold, potentially hazardous foods were being held at too warm temperatures. The Minnesota Department of Health does not offer specific observations in its public data reports, only noting the codes that have been broken. There were also multiple observations of employees consuming food, using an unapproved beverage containers or using tobacco in food preparation or washing areas.”

For you Royals fans, Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City came in at #17 with 97 violations, 50 critical.
