In my family, I'd be asking for two different products. My family is from the east coast, and I've NEVER heard dressing and stuffing put together as the same thing. Better yet, I'm still scratching my head about it.

Dressing, at least referred to by my family, is the product that is put on salads (or the occasionally french fries...I'm looking at you Ranch). I've heard dressing and gravy referred together, and that makes some sense.

But dressing and stuffing being the same? No way. I guess if you place stuffing on top of the turkey, then you could (kind of) call it dressing. Stuffing is placed inside the turkey and is a separate part of the meal. If they were called the same thing, what would the dressing be called that is placed on the stuffing? I'm thinking too much again.

I find these relations to always be a fun way to look at different areas of the country also. Examples being: Soda/Pop, Creek/Crick, Roof/Roof (rough?), or a Sub Sandwich/Hero. The best part is that nobody is technically wrong, but there might be times where you get weird looks.

What do you think? Is there really a difference between stuffing and dressing? Let us know!
