Hazy Day in Sioux Falls Caused by Forest Fires in Northern Canada

A hazy start to the week is being caused by forrest fires in northern Canada the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls says. The smoke is "... drifting down the spine of the Interstate 29 corridor from central and northwest Canada." The smoke is over eastern North and South Dakota extending into Nebraska.

The fires are mainly in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan and extending into Northwest Territories. The Edmonton Sun reports that this is one of the worst fire seasons in years in Canada with over 120 fires currently burning in Alberta. CTV reports that there is 113 fires burning in Saskatchewan. High heat and low humidity are making fire fighting difficult.
