PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Governor Dennis Daugaard is looking for two interns for his office's summer 2016 internship program in Pierre.

The governor said Thursday that his office is accepting applications until March 15th. The paid intern positions would run from early May through September.

The governor's office says duties could include helping his general counsel, doing policy research and readying policy briefings, among other responsibilities.

Those could include staffing the governor, lieutenant governor and the first lady.

The internships are open to undergraduate and graduate students. Preference will be given to state residents attending South Dakota higher education institutions.

The governor's office also encourages students seeking academic credit to apply.
