Famous Omaha Police Squirrel Found Dead

It is a sad day indeed.  Omaha, NE police have announced the death of 'OPD Squirrel'.  OPD Squirrel lived by the Omaha Police Departments offices.

The officers would frequently hand feed him granola bars, Buffalo flavored sunflower seeds, and other treats.

Last week the OPD announced their squirrel pal was dead and posted a series of crime scene pictures.  One included a Police taped perimeter with the chalk outlined body of the recently deceased rodent.

Mrs. OPD Squirrel tweeted: 'This is a sad day, thanks for all the kind words. He will be sorely missed by our 35 children and I.'
