A battle of the brews is about to begin in downtown Sioux Falls.

Anyone familiar with the annual downtown burger battle will understand what this new battle will be like.

The participating breweries include; Fernson Brewing Company, Gandy Dancer Brew Works at Monk's, Miner Brewing at Prairie Berry East Bank, and Woodgrain Brewing Company.

During the month of March, the public will get the opportunity to taste the various brews and vote for their favorites in two separate rounds.

The first round, known as the "The Hoppy Eight" takes place from March 3 to March 15.

The winning beer from each brewery during that round then moves on to "The Final Frosty Four" round which starts on Thursday, March 16.

That competition will continue through Thursday, March 30. With the beer battle champion being crowned the next day, on Friday, March 31st.

In conjunction with this Match Madness style competition, Downtown Sioux Falls is also teaming up with the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center to offer people attending the Summit League Tournaments in Sioux Falls some special deals at participating downtown Sioux Falls merchants.

According to KSFY TV, Summit League Tournament goers can bring their ticket stubs from the games to downtown merchants like;  A League of Your Own, Acorn 19/Bead Co, Lucky's Bar, Ode to Food and Drinks, Plum's Cooking Company, Simply Perfect/Threads, Sticks and Steel, Young and Richard's, and Zandbroz Variety to receive an assortment of deals and specials.
